Why roles beat random publics

Deadly Heist supports cooperative crews, but the game will not assign jobs for you. Without roles, everyone channels the same crate, nobody stages a car, and the warehouse becomes a myth. Use this guide after getting started when friends join.

The four core roles

Driver

Owns vehicles, leave calls, and warehouse approach lines. Reads how to escape twice. Does not loot after the engine plan is live. Calls star numbers from the wanted reference.

Gunner

Owns entries, road lanes, and officer peaks. Builds from the weapons tier list and a simple loadout. Shoots to open paths, not to pad eliminations.

Looter

Owns vault wings and channel discipline from vault and loot. Cancels channels on the driver’s leave call without arguing.

Scout

Owns pre-breach information: patrol density, backup cars, alternate exits. Runs the heist checklist out loud. After breach, scout collapses into gunner or looter as needed.

Duo mapping

Two players: Driver/Gunner hybrid + Looter/Scout hybrid. The hybrid driver still refuses late loot. The hybrid looter still stages a mental backup car.

Trio mapping

Driver, Gunner, Looter. Scout duties rotate to whoever arrives first at the bank exterior.

Full squad mapping

Keep the four roles pure. Extra bodies become second gunner or second looter on a different wing—never a fifth person standing in the doorway filming.

Short words survive sirens. Review controls so nobody asks “what’s the interact key” after the countdown.

Loadout by role

• Drivers keep a bat for bumper climbers and a sidearm for emergencies.
• Gunners bring the crew’s best reliable gun per tier-list/weapons.
• Looters prioritize mobility and enough ammo to self-peak a door.
• Scouts mirror gunners but may equip utility if patches add it—check updates.

Cosmetics such as masks can color-code roles for fun; they do not replace voice clarity.

Strategies layered on roles

Strategies tier list describes stealth, speed, and chaos plans. Roles stay the same; timing and greed change. Chaos still needs a driver—more explosions do not remove physics.

Etiquette in public servers

You cannot force strangers, but you can lead: announce your role in chat, ask for a driver, and share the Guides Hub. If the lobby refuses structure, play a shorter greed budget and extract early.

Scripts and trust

Mixed scripted clients create desync and drama. If your crew experiments, align expectations via scripts and prefer clean play for serious pushes. Codes from the codes hub are shared fairly before breach, not mid-chase.
